About Diamond 7 CDL Academy
Our Story
For 18 years, Alvin Johnson served in law enforcement. For 8 of those years, he also carried forward a family trucking tradition that runs deep in his blood.
His grandfather — known on the CB radio as “Diamond 7” — drove 18-wheelers for over 40 years. Alongside his father, he passed down more than a profession. He passed down a mindset.
Trucking gave Alvin a skill set that changed the course of his life. It allowed him to provide for his family, create stability, and build generational opportunity. That’s why he founded Diamond 7 Commercial Driving Academy — to honor the legacy, continue the tradition, and pass on the same passion and opportunity that was given to him.
As the owner of Johnson Express, Alvin leads with discipline, structure, and purpose. He made the decision to combine the two worlds that shaped him — law enforcement and trucking — into leadership and mentorship that impact lives beyond the road.
Our Mission
The mission of Diamond 7 is to provide education and career training in a supportive learning environment where students acquire the skills and competencies necessary to enter a rewarding vocational career — and become productive citizens of their communities.
Diamond 7 Commercial Driving Academy was built to provide individuals the opportunity to enhance and better their lives. We are especially committed to serving diverse, under-represented, and under-served populations — including career transitioners, mature adults, and individuals seeking a second chance.
What We Offer
Diamond 7 offers five CDL programs and specialized training built around the needs of today’s trucking industry:
- CDL Class A and Class B training
- Refresher courses for drivers returning to the road
- Restriction Lift training (remove automatic transmission or air brake restrictions)
- Hot Shot trucking training
- RV Driver Safety training
Our School
Diamond 7 Commercial Driving Academy is a Texas LLC based in Dallas, Texas, owned and operated by Alvin Johnson.
Our Dallas campus is located at 1910 Pacific Ave, Suite 9100, Dallas, TX 75201. Our 2,500 square foot facility is equipped with computers, TVs, and visual aids for theoretical training, as well as equipment for behind-the-wheel practical instruction. Lounge facilities are available for both faculty and students, with full accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
